Rather more broken sunshine here today, with patchy Cu med early aftn and some Ci and contrails later (in contrast to the cloudless conditions of the last two days).

Warmest day of the current spell, and the warmest of 2012 to date, at 27.1 °C (screen max): the sixth consecutive day to exceed 25 °C.

Both yesterday and today have seen hourly mean global solar radiation in excess of 900 W/m2 near solar noon, a value previously exceeded on only four hours in May in 10 years records of that element here.

After all the rain in April and into mid-May, my garden is wilting once more, having gone from dusty drought in early April, to a week of standing water in the met enclosure in late April into early May, to bone-dry hard soil once more.
