Horsham AWS - Snow

Postby Richard_Griffith » 2013 Mar 11, 16:15

What a difference a week makes - last Monday 4th March air temperatures rose to +12C at 15z with blue skies and sunshine. Today were currently (15z) at -1.7C in Snow showers!
Snow showers fell during the night to give a light dusting to grass surfaces with a depth of 3cm by 09hrs. However there has been fairly persistent Snow Showers for most of the day and by 15z have 6cm.

Looking at the radar most of the Snow appears to be South of the Downs over East Sussex into Kent and moving slowly NE with the Low over Biscay and fronts over Northern France with snow showers affecting this location coming from the NE moving to the SW.

It was mentioned on the BBC Weather earlier that the Channel Islands could have their worst Snow for 25yrs - looking at some of the webcam images not surprised flights have been cancelled for the day!
