2 thunderstorms

Postby Peter Wright » 2013 Aug 02, 20:03

In last 2 hours, 2 thunderstorms passed near us to E. The 2nd is still doing so. We have seen:
About 10 bright lightning flashes, cloud-to-cloud.
Rumbling thunder, no loud crackles.
Rainbows, visible round almost 180 degrees.
Sun low in NW shining under all this, lighting the thundercloud from below.
Suspected mamma in NE.
During the first, a mock sun visible to SW.
A few large spots rain from first, lots more spots from 2nd storm, but no significant rain yet.
Edgmond, Nr Newport Shropshire. N Shropshire Plain, rain shadow of the Welsh hills, sheltered from all snow directions, exposed to Cheshire Gap showers, otherwise similar to rest of inland England.
