Frost in March but not in Feb

Min last night was -0.8C, which means that March has already had an air frost but February had none (min +0.4C).
This is the 18th air frost of the season here. I had 5 in November, 6 in December, 6 in January and so far 1 in March.

A glorious sunny day in Farnborough, and now up to 7.9C (1135) but my wife, who is travelling to Devon, reported thick fog in Wiltshire and part of Somerset.

And another air frost!

Min -0.4C last night, though the temperature rose from -0.4C at 0215 to +8.2C at 0900. A "dry warm front" - no rain on it.

Here in Coulsdon, 15 miles south of London, there was no air frost in February. For my area away from the exceptional frosty locations such as The Chipstead Valley this is the first occasion that there has been no air frost in a winter month in a period extending over a period of 140 years at least. There was just 1 air frost in December 1934 plus December 1988 and one air frost in February 1961 and 2 air frosts in January 1990. Yet there were two successive air frosts on the 4th March and 5th March 2014.

Ian Currie- Coulsdon and Chipstead Valley, Surrey.

No air frost here so far in March although it came close on the 4th with a min' of 0.0c.
I recorded 13 air frosts during the winter, the second lowest total in 37 years of records at this site ( the lowest was 10 in 2006/07 ) The lowest minimum of the winter was -1.0c on January 10th and 12th, the highest such value in 50 years of records at two local sites.
