Spring average rainfall exceeded

Postby Len Wood » 2014 May 11, 14:33

Taking Spring as March, April, May,
my total reached 212 mm yesterday.
The average (1981-2010) for these parts is 209 mm.

However, looking at the forecast out to 10 days, I doubt there will be any records broken.

Len, just about the same here.

Rain so far (up to 11th May) this spring = 180.0 mm

My very estimated spring LTA (1981 - 2010) = 180.1 mm.

My Spring (March, April, May) total ended up as 247.9 mm.

This is a bit higher than the 1981-2010 average of 208.7 mm for nearby Mt Batten.

119% in fact but within the range of expected variability.

Further east in south Dorset my spring rainfall total was 276.3mm, 135% of the 1981-2010 average making it the wettest since 2001 at 292.9mm.

The third warmest in my 50-year record (mean10.26C) after 2011 (10.77C) and 2007 (11.03C)
