2014 - A sunny, warm and wet first half

Postby Nick Gardner » 2014 Jul 06, 19:14

Now just past the halfway mark (July 2nd) and all the months so far this year have been warmer than average; most have been sunnier than average and most have been wetter than average:

Jan 1st - 2nd July:
Mean minimum = 6.6°C
Mean maximum = 14.9°C
Mean = 10.7°C
Rainfall = 611 mm
Sunshine = 1003 hours.

Compared to last year (Jan 1st - July 2nd 2013):
Mean minimum = 4.8°C
Mean maximum = 12.4°C
Mean = 8.6°C
Rainfall = 384 mm
Sunshine = 841 hours.

Last year's cold spring really left its mark here with the lower temperatures but look how much wetter but sunnier this year has been. We could be on for a 2000+ hours of sunshine year like 2010.
