Thunder-heard days: 2014 (so far/July)

Postby Martin Rowley » 2014 Jul 26, 20:37

... Not sure how others are faring with the 'thunder heard' totals for this year (2014), but here in east Dorset, we're now up to 15 (6 this month alone), and just one away from the notably thundery /whole/ year in 2012 [16 days]. Our estimated yearly average is around 10-12, depending upon datasets used.

11 here in Farnborough so far. I think the LTA, based on Reading, is around 16.

At Dorchester (south Dorset) the 'days of thunder heard' for 2014 stands at 11 with four such days credited to this month - the highest July total since 2001.

The most thunder days here for any month of the last 50 years is 7 in September 1976.

Remarkably, in 2010, no thunder was heard throughout the year
