Novermber 2014 - Warm first half

Postby Nick Gardner » 2014 Nov 15, 20:55

The trend continues with the first half of November being warmer than normal, especially by day.

1st - 15th
Mean minimum = 6.1°C
Mean maximum = 14.2°C
Mean = 10.2°C
Rain = 80.0 mm
Sunshine = 61 hours.

Still awaiting the first air frost but that's not unusual. Above average rainfall and sunshine so far this month.

Yesterday (14th) was a stunning mid-November day with a maximum temperature of 14.7°C, 7.8 hours of warm sunshine and just a light breeze. Plenty of butterflies still around as well as the hoverflies. This has so far been a rather 'different' autumn with the garden looking (if a little soggy) still very green and the summer plants have yet to register that it is autumn. Only the tomato plants are looking a rather tired; the chillies and runner beans are still going well as are the courgettes and marrows. Lawn still needing weekly cuts.

All change.

Temperature has been in a steady decline since 14:30 yesterday (22nd) after reaching a peak of 14.4°C.

I suspect the positive temperature anomaly for this month will be reduced somewhat over the next few days.

1st - 22nd Nov
Mean minimum = 7.1°C
Mean maximum = 13.7°C
Mean = 10.4°C

Overnight minimum on the 22nd was a rather balmy 13.6°C.
