June rainfall in Plymouth

Postby Len Wood » 2012 Jul 09, 18:45

Here are the ranked top five wettest Junes in Plymouth:

1. 181 mm 1879
2. 166 mm 2012
3. 137 mm 1968
4. 128 mm 1912
5. 120 mm 1991

So the latest June was only the second wettest on record which begins in 1874.
Mind you, normally one thinks of Plymouth rainfall as being measured at Mount Batten. That record only began in 1921.
Previous to that measurements are from the Hoe. Only 1 km away, but doubtless a slightly different exposure.
