Rainfall for 2012 up to Aug 20: 579.7mm

This has already beaten the last 2 full years' totals:
2011: 519.3
2010: 547.6

30-yr average 1981-2010 for full year : 712.0
Edgmond, Nr Newport Shropshire. N Shropshire Plain, rain shadow of the Welsh hills, sheltered from all snow directions, exposed to Cheshire Gap showers, otherwise similar to rest of inland England.

Here up to 20 Aug it is 695.4 mm.
This is a little above average but not much.

2001-2010 annual average is 1000.2 mm.

Other parts of Devon have had much more rain.
The deluges have been rather localised.
We have missed them here in Wembury.

Here up to 20 Aug it is 695.4 mm.

Virtually identical in Penzance, 682.1mm, again virtually spot on the norm.

2007 had 862.8mm by the end of July, 906.0mm by the end of August. Also the warmest year to 21/8 since 2008. (Which isn't saying a great deal). In fact, taking the year to date, both rainfall & temperature are very close to normal.

Up to 1200Z August 22 the 2012 year total so far stands at 452.4mm.

I should beat last years total of 470.4mm, and 2009s 521.9mm, but still have a way to got to beat 2008, a wet year which brought the total to 873.2mm.

2009: 521.9mm
2010: 626.9mm
2011: 470.4mm
