'Flat' highs & lows 2014 so far ...

Postby Martin Rowley » 2014 Feb 09, 09:37

... for many years, I've monitored the day-by-day 'extremes' from various sources to attempt a local update of the temperature series developed by Webb and Meaden (2000: 'Weather').

At the start of every year of course, the annual 'highest' and 'lowest' temperature resets - the values on the 1st become the 'new' annual high/low, and as the days roll by, one or other or both need amending.

I last had to change the data on the 5th January: highest so far (known to me) Bude (Cornwall) 14.1°C // lowest so far Altnaharra (Sutherland) -6.6°C.

Probably not a dramatic statistic, but does demonstrate how 'stuck' we've been in this current 'Atlantic-based' zonal flow.

Martin.
