Rain forecast for Thurs 22 March

Postby Len Wood » 2012 Mar 21, 20:49

If you look at the accumulated precipitation totals from either the GFS or HIRLAM models at

http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/cgi-bin/ ... ts?LANG=en

you will see only 2 to 3 mm forecast for South Devon from this low pressure heading northwest across the the Eng Channel.

It misses SE England and Midlands.

It will be interesting to monitor the accuracy of this forecast. The highest rainfall totals seem to be 7 or 8 mm west of Cornwall.
Wonder how much Scillies will get.

Actual 24 hr rainfall totals:

St Mary's (Scilly) 0.4 mm, Camborne 1 mm, Culdrose and Plymouth
(Mountbatten) 2 mm, Wembury 2.4 mm, Cardinham 5 mm, Haytor 4 mm

So not a bad forecast in my opinion.
