We are pleased to announce this year's annual COL members' meeting will be held in Oxford on Saturday 10 October.

We hope to see as many members as possible at this year’s COL Annual Members meeting, which will be held in the St Aldates Centre in Oxford on Saturday 10 October. Our annual members’ meetings are always friendly, sociable events and many members come year after year: please show your support and come along, it’s a great opportunity to meet other members and ‘talk weather’!

The planned schedule of activities (including our AGM) includes two talks and two presentations by members on the theme of ‘my weather station’. The planned timetable is shown below and is given in the current Bulletin.

If you are a current COL member, there is no charge to attend. Members may bring one guest free of charge. Non-members are welcome to attend (a £10 registration fee will apply), but please note that only current COL members are eligible to vote in the AGM.

The venue address is the Christopher Room, St Aldates Parish Centre, 40 Pembroke Street, Oxford, OX1 1BP. The entrance is via Pembroke Street (disabled access available). It is about 8 minutes walk from Oxford’s railway and bus station – see map in the current Bulletin. Oxford should be readily accessible for most COL members south of Manchester including London and south-east England – there are frequent direct trains to and from Reading, London Paddington, Manchester Piccadilly and Birmingham New Street.

Please note that there is no car parking at the venue. Due to very limited and expensive car parking in Oxford city centre, it is strongly recommended that attendees make use of the park and ride facilities located on the outskirts of Oxford if travelling by car. Details of Oxford Park and Ride can be found at: http://www.oxford.gov.uk/PageRender/ decTS/ParkandRideLocations.htm

Fares are typically about £3 return into the city centre, and journey times 15-25 minutes. Concessionary pass holders are entitled to free travel on all local Oxfordshire services (including park and ride) all day at weekends. Park and Ride buses stop on St Aldates, close to the Town Hall and less than a minute’s walk from St Aldates Parish Centre (see map in the Bulletin).

Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided together with water and soft drinks. Lunch is not provided - there are numerous facilities nearby for those wishing to purchase lunch or other refreshments, or of course you can bring your own. There is a small exterior seating area adjacent to the conference room.
Within the venue there will be tables should members wish to bring items for display or for sale.

If you plan to attend please contact John Goulding, the COL Secretary on j.goulding4-AT-ntlworld.com, so that we can arrange for name badges and plan for refreshments and seating.

Election of officers
Our constitution sets out the term of office of the five committee members, which are as follows:

Position Term of office Elected Current incumbent
Chairman 4 years 2011 Stephen Burt Term of office expires at this AGM
Editor 1 year 2014 Roger Brugge Term of office expires at this AGM
Treasurer 3 years 2012 Mike Snow Term of office expires at this AGM

Nominations are invited from the membership for the committee positions whose term of office expires at this AGM – namely Chairman, Editor, Treasurer and Website Editor. Nominations should take the form of the nominee’s name and address, together with those of a proposer and seconder from within the current membership, and should be submitted to the Chairman in writing (at COL.Chairman - AT - gmail.com) no later than 28 days prior to the date of the Annual General Meeting (deadline Saturday 12 September 2015).

The current post holders have all declared their willingness to stand again for election, but a membership ballot will be held if there are alternative nominations.

AGM agenda
The proposed AGM agenda will be published in the August bulletin. Any member wishing to add any item to the agenda, or to raise any topic for discussion at the Annual General Meeting under ‘Any other business’, is requested to notify the Chairman in writing (at COL.Chairman - AT - gmail.com) no later than 28 days prior to the date of the Annual General Meeting (deadline Saturday 12 September 2015).

We look forward to seeing you in Oxford in October!
