You are warmly invited to
The 2012 COL Annual Members’ Meeting

The 2012 COL Annual Members’ Meeting will take place on Saturday 10 November in Reading, Berkshire.

If you’ve not been to a COL annual meeting before, they are a great opportunity to meet like-minded enthusiasts, exchange ideas and ask questions, seek advice, look at the latest instruments, share in discussions and help decide the future direction of COL. There will also be chances to buy and sell books and surplus equipment, and the agenda will of course feature ample ‘social time’. All are welcome, new members or old!

This year’s meeting will be held in the magnificent Victorian Hall at Reading Town Hall. This striking Victorian building has been beautifully restored and features up-to-date conference and meeting facilities (meetings of the RMetS south-east local centre are also held here). It is located 2 minutes walk from Reading train and bus station, which has direct rail links to London (Paddington, Clapham Junction), Manchester and Edinburgh, Durham, Gatwick, Oxford, Basingstoke, Southampton, Birmingham, Bristol, Exeter, Penzance and many others. (Book your train journey now for excellent advance-purchase fares.) There is ample car parking within 5 minutes walk at Reading station and at Queens Road NCP (satnav: RG1 4AR). Bring the family ̶ Reading also has a large and modern shopping centre, The Oracle, located less than 5 minutes from the Town Hall, which also has a large car park (satnav: RG1 2AG).

The venue features an on-site cafe: food and drink are also available from numerous outlets within two minutes walk including M&S, Sainsbury’s, Starbucks, Carluccio’s and numerous town-centre pubs. Location map:

Equipment sales on the day
We hope to stage a small exhibition of meteorological books and equipment. We can also provide space for members to buy and sell books, periodicals, surplus equipment etc. If you wish to bring items to sell at the meeting, please let the Chairman know in advance so that we can arrange for the appropriate number of tables, etc. There is no charge for doing so for private COL members, although a small donation to COL would be welcome.

Registration fee for this meeting will be £10 for COL members, £15 for non-members. (The registration fee covers the venue costs, tea and coffee, etc.)
