Miserable Bank Holiday weather in SE England

Postby greg_gruner » 2014 May 26, 15:27

If Bank Holidays can be measured on a scale of 10 to +10 for holidaymakers and people wanting to be out and about, today must be very close to -10!

Rainfall started at around 5am and has been virtually continuous since then. The rain has been light, with only 6.4mm logged so far in around 11 hours of rainfall.
Maximum temp is 11.7C (which it stands at currently, 1620 BST).
Wind is very light NNE.

Quite a similar day to Christmas Eve last year, when the max temp was 11.2C!!

One week ago I recorded 25.5C. But that's spring in England...

Looks like this easterly spell with rain will affect the SE for the next 3 days or so, with a low over the continent.

Well Greg, using your scale it's been about +8 here on the Yorkshire coast today. Cool when the sun disappeared behind the odd cloud, but otherwise a nice bank holiday with warm sunshine.
Rain looks like it's on it's way in the next few days though.

My commiserations.....

Greg, on your scale it was +5 here.

Dry, warm(ish) and hardly a breath of wind (so different to yesterday's strong breeze). Shame it was predominantly cloudy with only brief glimpses of sunshine but the cloud was thin and overall it was quite a bright day with high UV.

Maximum = 16.3°C
Minimum = 7.6°C

Good to hear that other parts of the country were not as bad!

Just to add that it is still raining here in Farnborough, that makes nearly 16 hours of rainfall. Up to 10.5mm now.

Max Temp was 11.7C

Almost unbroken sunshine here on SW Devon coast.

About 15 hours worth.
Max 17.7C
Min 8.7C

Score 10 out of 10.

Could not have wished for better Bank holiday weather.
I do offer my sympathy to those east of here. You win some, you lose some.
