Torrential rain

Postby Len Wood » 2014 Jun 10, 09:23

Everyone else seems to have had some torrential rain in recent days.
Until last night we had escaped it here in SW Devon.

Between 0230 and 0300 11.1 mm fell.
Not exceptional, but a rate of an inch an hour is quite heavy.

No thunder though.

Yesterday at Mapperley Plains/Arnold in Nottinghamshire there were several thunderstorms in the afternoon. Rather pathetic really with just a few claps of thunder and a massive 0.4mm of rain. Elsewhere in Nottinghamshire there were heavy thunderstorms with hail and flash floods as drains failed to take the sudden flow of water. All very local and short-lived, but severe enough to make the local paper.
Regards to all
