23rd July 2014 - Hottest day & humid too

Postby Nick Gardner » 2014 Jul 23, 18:51

A maximum of 29.1°C today making it the warmest day of the year so far and the warmest day since the 19th July 2013 (29.5°C). It was also humid too with a DP of 20.6°C at the same time of maximum temperature. No wonder it felt a tad muggy in the unbroken sunshine today.

Monthly sunshine total now past 200 hours.

A warm and humid evening:
(19:50), 24.1°C, RH 71%, DP 18.2°C, 1016 hPa (F), Wind 1 mph S.

Warmest so far here too.

Max 26.6C
Min 17.2C

Warmest since 27C of July 20th last year.
This July is turning out to be just as warm, dry and sunny as last year.

Not here Len

To the 24th July 2013:
Mean minimum = 12.6°C
Mean maximum = 24.9°C
Mean = 18.9°C
Rain = 1.9 mm
Sun = 292 hours

To the 24th July 2014:
Mean minimum = 12.8°C
Mean maximum = 23.7°C
Mean = 18.3°C
Rain = 35.9 mm
Sun = 211 hours

So July 2014 so far has been a little cooler but much wetter (around average rainfall to date) and sunnier than July 2013 (to the 24th).

But this summer so far has been better overall due to a warmer and sunnier June though Summer 2013 was a good one too.
