Postby Martin Rowley » 2014 Sep 19, 18:13

... dew points 18/19degC must be fairly unusual for second-half of September; Anyone any data on this?

DPs here for the last few days have at times been between 19°C & 20°C.
Date Temp Max DP
15th 22.2°C 15.6°C
16th 24.6°C 18.5°C
17th 24.4°C 17.7°C
18th 24.3°C 19.8°C
19th 22.1°C 19.6°C
20th 20.3°C 17.9°C

Fitting this in with maximum DPs (and associated temperature) from Septembers over the last few years:

Year Temp Max DP Date
2013 20.0°C 18.0°C 21st
2012 24.2°C 18.3°C 3rd
2011 27.2°C 20.2°C 29th
2010 21.2°C 16.1°C 10th
2009 22.6°C 16.8°C 7th
2008 20.1°C 14.9°C 14th
2007 25.1°C 17.9°C 7th
2006 23.5°C 19.3°C 3rd

So recent DPs of +19°C are not common for September. Caveat here is that prior to 2012 the values quoted are from my previous location 6 km inland up the valley and the climatology is probably a little less humid there. Up until 2012 the figures were determined by a wet & dry bulb hygrometer, since then the figures have been obtained from a Davis VP2+ but they generally agree.
