Friday 19th Dec: Yet more thunder in Stornoway

Postby Eddy Graham » 2014 Dec 19, 11:00

As I type (10;56am today Friday 19th Dec, thunder is rumbling again in Stornoway with the approach of another squall - we've had snow and torrential hail again this morning (but only traces of hail lying, as air temp is ~3degC).

That makes six (6) days of thunder now for this month for Stornoway (beating 5 days of last Dec 2013) - a truly remarkable statistic in my opinion, and I am sure one that is very rare in the historic record (if not unique - though it would be hard to verify..)

N.B. The latest sferic map from the Icelandic Met Service is at: http://brunnur.vedur.is/athuganir/eldingar/i_dag_na.html?
