A proper gale

Postby Graham Easterling » 2013 Nov 02, 16:18

Unlike the St Jude's storm (yes I know it was a decent gale in some places, but not here) we now have a real gale in west Cornwall, the 1st of the Autumn, significantly stronger than the St Jude's storm. In Penzance it's currently gusting 45-50mph, the same as the peak conditions on top the Penwith moors during St Jude. Recent gusts >65mph on Scilly.

Sea conditions are also very, very poor, I've attached a couple of webcam pics from Sennen. The breakwater completely vanishes at times, as you can see, the 1st pic is simply to show where the breakwater is. Imagine having to launch the lifeboat through that. The boats pulled up as far as possible.

This is more like a storm.
