Rainfall 31st January

Postby Richard_Griffith » 2014 Feb 01, 10:40

After a dry but cloudy morning, moderate rain set in from 14:00hrs and persisted for the rest of the day with a strengthening Southerly wind - max gust 32Kn. Total Rainfall up 09hrs 01/02 = 30.3mm which gives me a total January rainfall of 242.6mm (9.5") 285%LTA

The Met Office's radar map at 2.30pm showed an area of rain almost 300 miles wide, stretching from the Pembrokeshire to the Essex coast.

I spent a couple of days with my daughter in Maidstone. Thursday 30th was very wet, but this time the Met Office's radar map showed a very narrow band of rain which hardly moved all day. I recorded 8.5mm in my garden on Southend but Maidstone felt much wetter than that.
