Noctilucent cloud display: 16/7/2015

Given the increased frequency of noctilucent cloud sightings over recent years, I'm not sure if this is a newsworthy item - but last night (~1h00) we had a stunning display here in Stornoway. Perhaps it was because it was the first clear night in many weeks - though I haven't seen such a remarkable display here since 2011.

Attached two photos - of course, my smartphone pictures don't do the merest amount of justice to their awe-inspiring nature; tenous with electric blue colours, mixed with white/pale ash billows rippling in (apparently) from the east...

p.s. with low pressure systems now beginning to track ever so slightly further south, we are still getting abundant rain here, but thankfully are having 12-24hrs of brighter south-easterly conditions in advance of the frontal systems & much warmer conditions than of late too.
